Refugees Are

The refugee community is misunderstood. A number of misconceptions, stereotypes, and negative rhetoric can be found in film, social media, news headlines, social media, and even simple Google searches. With this project we are taking several problematic narratives about refugees and shedding some light on things.

Papel and Caneta teamed up with several creatives and The Refugee Orchestra Project to celebrate and support the refugee community by addressing this cultural moment with truth, humor, and music.

We captured the scene as a short 360º doc. Directed by Marshall Curry for The Wall Street Journal/Google/Scenic. Cinematography by Andrew Dowd.

For rockstars The National’s latest album, they gathered for weeks at a recording studio in upstate New York. We followed the journey using 360º cameras for an immersive look inside the process. Directed by Marshall Curry for The New York Times; Cinematography by Andrew Dowd
